New 2012 Wakesetter MXZ has arrived
The long awaited new flag ship of Malibu Boats has just arrived at Malibu Marine. The Wakesetter MXZ. The 22 Ft Wake Maker. Everyone here at Malibu Marine was drooling when it was unwrapped for the first time. Once we had it on the water we were all very impressed with how the boat handled and how incredible the wake is for Wakeboarding and Surfing. MXS 22 Vitals. Length: 22’ Width: 102” Weight: TBD – heavy! MXS 22 The Boat:The interior cockpit is of a VLX in size. I think it is a little bigger, but I think we are splitting hairs by saying so. It is bigger but not by much.. The storage is the same, it is of a VLX also. Rear storage is like the 247 – the MXS 22 rear sundeck is the same as our 247 sundeck, it has the rear lounge seating and has the storage bins underneath the lounge. The drivers helm & dash is in line with the VLX, 23, & 247 with some upgrade in the way the Sub is mounted and the drivers cup-holder area has some nice appointments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7OCQ3AdKs4 MXS 22 Open Bow:“Bow Centric” is one word that is being used to describe the design of the MXS22 – much like the way we use “Cab Forward Design” describing the design of the VLX, 23, and 247. The open bow is huge and seating is spacious. It is deep and has that Malibu feel in regards to design and appointments. In watching this video you can see the 6’3” Chris Loomis has plenty of room The open bow area also has the front ladder that allows for front exit and entry while pulled up on the beach.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyeWUE8RRVk MSX 22 Performance: Here is where you will find the true advantage – the handling of this boat is right dead center of a 23 & a VLX. Gasper has preserved the long standing Malibu performance in a boat that is an absolute departure from what we have ever done.. The difference lies in the fact that it gets is bigger faster. We all like that! We had a handful of pro’s ride behind it and their comment was they were able to get the wake to the size they liked with half of the aftermarket ballast/weight. With people and time I have no doubts that it can get ridiculous.. But you can see it is awesome with just factory ballast and 3 people.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsWO0I8SBdA MXS Ski Wake: Sweet for a big pig of a wakeboard boat! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLRS9efRYvY Notables: The hull is its own design – it is not the A22 mold or anything that has been modified. Dan started from scratch and used the best of what we have to create this beast! The front half we can say has the influence or finger print of a 23 LSV. Killer rough water ride and dry bow. The back half I am going to say has the finger print of a VLX – the hull tapers off and narrows at the back and gives it a very mainstream huge wake! (Not a super wide wake, about as wide as the VLX) Construction: Another departure is that this boat has a liner floor. The long time challenge of a liner floor is the noise that comes from the water hitting the hull. Fibecs has been re-designed for this boat. (FibEcs = Fiberglass Engine Chasse System = Malibu’s Stringer System) Unlike the traditional FibEcs these are foam filled to dampen the potential for noise. BUT – there is a channel in the FibEcs that still allows for Active Air Induction. Active Air Induction = the vents on the front deck that force air into the engine compartment. The Deck and Hull are a shoebox fit and held together like the other Malibu’s with Weld On Chemical Bond. We do not use mechanical fasteners (Pop rib its & screws) to hold the deck and hull together. They are chemically bonded together to make a one piece construction. SOLID ROUGH WATER RIDE!
